    What is Spotify?

    Spotify Music Account

Spotify is an enormous music streaming application, available across various countries and languages. It is widely recognized as one of the best music streaming apps, offering a vast catalog, high-quality audio, and options to create custom playlists.

While the free (basic) version allows users to stream with ads, the Premium subscription offers ad-free listening, offline downloads, and higher audio quality. Whether you’re on the free or a paid plan, an account is required.

Important Prerequisite: Cancel Your Premium Subscription First

To permanently delete your Spotify account, it must be on the Spotify Free plan. If you currently have an Individual, Duo, Family, or Student Premium plan, you must cancel it and wait for your subscription period to end (until the next billing date) for your account to automatically switch to the Free plan.

You cannot delete a Premium account immediately.

Steps to Cancel Your Spotify Premium Subscription

Follow these steps to revert your paid subscription to the free service:

    1. Access your Account Page: Open a web browser (on desktop or mobile) and go to your Spotify Account page. Log in if prompted.
    2. Navigate to Plans: On the Account Overview page, look under the “Your plan” section and click on “Change plan” or “Manage your subscription.”
    3. Select Cancellation: Scroll down past the available plans to the “Cancel Spotify” section.
    4. Confirm Cancellation: Click “Cancel Premium” (or a similar option) and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the cancellation.
    5. Account Status: Your account will remain Premium until your next billing date. Once that date passes, your account will switch to the Free service, and you can proceed with permanent deletion.

Steps to Permanently Delete Your Spotify Account (Free)

Once your account is on the Free plan, follow the official process using a web browser:

    1. Go to the Closure Page: Access the Spotify Support website’s dedicated page for .
    2. Select Your Account Type: Click on the appropriate link based on your account status (e.g., “Close your free account and delete your data”).
    3. Confirm the Account: Spotify will present your account details. Review them to ensure you are deleting the correct account, then click “Close account.”
    4. Follow Prompts: Continue through the subsequent pages, acknowledging the warnings about what you will lose. You will need to click “Continue” multiple times.
    5. Final Confirmation Email: Spotify will send a final email to your account’s registered email address with a link. You must click this link to confirm the permanent closure of your account.

    What Happens After Deletion?

    • 7-Day Grace Period: After closing your account, Spotify will send you a link that allows you to reactivate it within 7 days. If you do not reactivate within this period, the permanent deletion process begins.
    • Loss of Data: You will permanently lose all your saved music, playlists, and followers.
    • Username Restriction: You will not be able to use your current username with Spotify ever again.
    • New Account with Same Email: You can use the same email address to create a new Spotify account after 14 days from the date of closing your old account.

    Conclusion

By first canceling any Premium subscription and then following the official account closure process on the Spotify website, you can successfully delete your account and all associated data. We hope this updated guide helps you complete the process with ease.
