Access Point Name or APN is actually a gateway that is used by your mobile phone and your internet provider to connect to the internet. This APN is used by the network provider to find and allocate the correct IP to the mobile device that can be used to identify the device on the network. Technically speaking, the APN settings that are fed into the mobile is what the mobile reads to establish a connection between the phone and your network provider which will then be used to connect to the public internet. For example, the APN used by T-mobile is epc.tmobile.com, for AT&T modems it is isp.cingular.

Mobile APN Settings
There are many fields in the APN Settings, but the most important ones are- APN, APN Type, MMSC (Multimedia Messaging Service) and Proxy. Every phone comes with a few default APN settings which will allow making calls.
But unless you are part of the 4 worldwide leaders in Mobile Network communication- At&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon, where the default APN’s allow usage of all the services, you will need to modify your APN to use other services like internet, MMS, etc.
Most of the service providers will send you the required APN settings once you connect to their network. But this becomes a big problem for the locked phone provided by service providers, like the ability to manually change APN settings is disabled/blocked on these phones.
Simple Mobile APN Settings Guide
Simple Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator or MVNO which is based on the T-Mobile infrastructure as it rents the unused data packages and air-time from T-Mobile and provides it to their customers.
Thus if you have a Simple Mobile network on your phone and you want to use the data package, then the Simple Mobile APN settings will help your phone connect to the Simple Mobile network and allow you to use the internet services as per your plan.
In this article, we provide an in-depth guide for you to set up your phone with the Simple APN settings in the correct manner.

Take Extra Precaution
Although not a proper step that you need to follow to establish the Simple Mobile APN settings, this is more of a general precautionary warning. The format is essential when considering APN settings.
So take extra care to follow the settings given in the article verbatim! The Simple Mobile APN settings are particular to the exact text provided, hence entering the wrong text (which includes punctuations, case and numbers used).
The overall process of configuring the APN settings has 3 steps:
- Access the APN settings in the Settings Menu
- Delete older settings
- Enter new APN Settings. Save settings and restart your phone
Now Step 1 and Step 3 are platform specific, hence in the following sections we have discussed how to perform them on Android, Windows OS, iOS and Blackberry.
But Step 2 and 4 are common to all the platforms. Before entering the Simple Mobile APN settings, delete the previous APN settings that are present on your phone. Since the settings are not working, there is no point in keeping them.
Removing them will only decrease any chances of confusing the old and the new settings (since there may be a minute change in the text, the difference may be very subtle) and ensure that you put the correct settings.
